Jeff grew up in Long Meadow, Massachusetts. Because visual communication always interested him and at a young age he showed a talent for rendering, he decided to pursue art after graduation from high school. In 1994, Bye graduated with a BFA from Rhode Island School of Design and was selected by the European Honors Program to study abroad for a year in Rome. He earned a MFA in 1996 from the Graduate School of Figurative Art, in New York. Bye remained in New York for fifteen years working for the Metropolitan Opera painting murals and working on his own paintings.
Bye has earned numerous awards. He is a member of the Copley Society and was awarded the Copley Master, at the time he was the youngest master in the organization’s history. In addition, his work has been featured in Maine Home & Design, Spring 2010, 60 Most Collectable Artists of Maine. New England Sports Network, Jeff Bye Show Fenway Park is a True Work of Art.
